Selection of best electric mirror heaters

The heating mirror is a real heater, incomparable with an anti-fog mirror. The heater avoids the condensation as it increases the surface temperature of the mirror in wet rooms (dew point). A real 2 in 1, the mirror heater also helps to reduce ambient humidity as a result of its radiation. It fits elegantly in a bathroom, hallway, bedroom, office, etc.

  • OUR SELECTION

We present below our selection of best electric mirror heaters according to our criterias of finishing, global quality, security and low consumption:

  • Positioning of the heater: vertical, horizontal, square (17 dimensions)
  • Attachment: wall or ceiling heater. Simplified installation via 2 anti-releasing pads
  • Finishing: mirror 6 mm of SECURIT glass (invisible film that prevents the mirror from breaking into a thousand pieces in case of breakage)…
  • Only 2 cm thick (slimline heater category) incorporating high density insulation on the back to force the radiation forward
  • Very low power High Efficiency Infrared Technology (count only 60Watts per m2)
  • Very low consumption of £1 per day maximum for the most powerful heaters. Classified as the most economic heating solution for a 20-year period.
  • Safety: IP45 class 1. Guarantee: 8 years. Price: starting from £499

Electric “Mirror” Heaters: only 2 cm thick!

Mirror Heater: heating principle

Most electric mirror heaters are based on infrared heating technologyElectric Infrared Heaters offer real opportunities in terms of design (low thickness, customisable finishing), comfort (soft heat) and low consumption.

In the case of a bathroom installation, respect the rules of installation according to the zones (distances / water point). Install it in zone 3 and favour an appliance with an IPx5 Protection Index for water projections.

Options for mirror heaters

Some manufacturers offer options such as:

  • frame (wood, aluminium, brushed mercury, etc.)
  • LED kit. To save even more space, so the luminous mirror heater becomes a 3 in 1: heating + mirror + lighting.
  • Towel dryer bars.
  • Foot rails support: to transform the mirror heater into a mobile one (one that we can store).

Advantages of an electric mirror heater

  • Free up living space (mirror and heater at the same time). Design (only 2 cm thick).

  • Fights effectively against moisture and eliminates the condensation in wet rooms.

  • Economic use (best infrared models).

  • Soft and homogenous heat from floor to ceiling – due to heating by radiation.

  • Healthier than conventional convectors (the air is not stirred) – due to heating by radiation.

  • Simple installation: does not require any significant work (a simple standard electric socket). Wired or wireless thermostat. No maintenance at all.

Disadvantages of an electric mirror heater

  • High price. Starting from £499 for the small high quality models, up to £1300 for the largest and most powerful high quality models. Beware of convectors to which a mirror façade is added, which should not be able to carry this designation. A mirror heater is above all an infrared heater.

  • Attention to the physical parameters of the mirrors (Light transmittance / Light reflectance) for a good mirror effect not too dark.

  • Based on the far infrared technology, direct flow toward a window should be avoided (if the window is in the immediate vicinity). Indeed, the risk is to lose the infrared radiation which passes through the glazing (like the infrared radiation of the sun).

  • The infrared radiation, which creates the heat, is generated either by a heating film or by a specific mesh of resistive wires. The heating films are to be avoided under penalty of low efficiency.
